Obesity Surgery in Mexico

Obesity surgery is a proven method of improving lives and heath but a lot of insurance companies still deny coverage for it. When they do cover obesity surgery they often only cover gastric bypass and not other forms such as gastric sleeve.

If you are in this situation and need to pay for weight loss surgery yourself, cost is a real factor. The good news is that obesity surgery in Mexico and other countries is much less expensive than here. It sounds scary but I know a lot of people who have successfully had it done in Mexico. You need to check out the surgeon and hospital carefully just like you would do here. But don't let the idea of going outside of the US for obesity surgery scare you, it's a viable option.

WOW your blog looks fabulous Pam! Love it!

I was just talking about the WLS in Mexico as being the only option for teens that want WLS.

I finally got a better explanation about why the insurance companies don't want to cover WLS at all even though it saves them money in the long run. It's because they don't expect to have you that many years down the road. The statistics show that the normal time under any particular insurance company is 2.5 years so they are pretty much concerned with that 2.5 years and that's it. So sad.

And yes, I know a surgeon in particular that does surgery right across the Texas/Mexico border and he's awesome!! Great blog!
