Many people who have weight problems have food addition problems. I know I'm in that category. While the various surgeries like vertical sleeve gastrectomy prevent you from overeating they don't prevent you from transferring that addiction to something else.
Transfer addiction is common in addicts of all sorts. Think of a smoker who transfers that addiction to chewing gum when they quit smoking. I've heard of wls patients developing shopping addictions.
I've been thinking about it and I think I have transfered my addition from general overeating to focusing on certain foods. My eating habits have totally changed besides eating less. I used to not like to eat the same things all the time and ate a lot of different things. Now I find that I get obsessed with one food and want to eat it for weeks or months! Shortly after I started eating solids again, I became obsessed with chicken Cesar salad. I had to have it daily for either lunch or dinner or both. I ate it for 2 months! There's been a couple of others along the way and not I'm addicted to iced coffee. I have to have my coffee at lunch time.
Am I worried about it, no, not really. Not unless I get addicted to something really bad. And I'm glad I didn't develop a shopping addiction, we can't afford it!
side note:
Looks like there's a hurricane developing out there! I've got my fingers crossed that it doesn't hit any of my neighbors on the gulf coast or decide to come visit me. DH and I pulled the shutters out today just in case. He's got a herniated disk in his back so we can't do much at a time. Keep your fingers crossed!

Very interesting. My mother smoked for 49 years and when she quit she became addicted to the nicotine gum. Then to get off of the nicotine gum she became addicted to Extra Polar Ice gum. Now she is slowing weaning herself from that and it has been about a four year process. I'm very proud of her for quitting the smokes, though. I know it is hard! I like you blog!
I'm glad she quit as well! It's so hard fighting these addictions, whatever they are. Thanks for the compliment, glad you like it.
Giving up smoking is not easy. Some will quit for few days, or weeks, or months even years and smoke back. This is common for smokers.
